The barren remains of the wildfires. Ashen and parched, the air is still thick with smoke and dust. Tree trunks are stunted and burnt, bushes fried to brittle stems while the earth itself remains buried beneath a layer of ashes and charred foliage. It is a frightening setting. Youngsters have been known to dare each other to tread closer, much to the dismay of their mothers. It is a desolate place, haunted with tragedy, though oddly enough some still linger here. Perhaps with time, and Mother Nature's care, it will be revived.
